Psychological Testing (Not currently Offered) includes diagnostics for attention deficit-hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), learning disabilities, and giftedness as well as projective and personality evaluations.
Individual Psychotherapy: Therapy session with only the individual patient and therapist present. The goal is to develop a sense of familiarity, safety, trust, and sharing in a confidential arrangement.
Play Therapy: Therapy session where the child, either alone and observed, or in interaction with the therapist plays a designated game or activity and their play is interpreted by the therapist so that effective treatment can take place.
Family Therapy: Session where any combination of family members and/or the identified patient are present during all or part of the session. This arrangement typically facilitates an increase of information and definition of the problem, resolution of interpersonal conflicts and power struggles as well as development of strategies for conflict resolution, resistances, hierarchies, and alliances.
Marital/Couples Therapy: Session involving both partners in a relationship with the focus on the presenting conflict(s) and resolution, interactive and communication skills.
Psycho-educational Testing: (Not Currently Offered): Comprehensive individual testing comprised of two 3-hour sessions. Testing includes assessment of Intelligence and cognitive functioning, memory and learning skills, attention and concentration skills, visual and auditory processing skills, fine motor and grapho-motor skills, achievement levels in Reading, Spelling, Arithmetic, Composition and Copying/Writing skills, and assessment of social, emotional, and personality functioning.
School Consultation Services: On-site visits to schools to consult with teachers and administrators on the patient's behalf. While typically involving an IEP meeting to help implement accommodations based on ADHD/ psychoeducational testing, it also can involve meetings to accommodate school phobic re-entry to the school setting or behavioral disruptions that need containment.
Hypnosis: Hypnotic techniques geared specifically to the patient's needs. Common applications include stress and anxiety reduction and management; panic attacks; sleep problems, pain management, habit control; concentration and focus improvement. The applicability of Hypnosis can range beyond these typical needs and be used for memory and detail recall in crime cases, athletic performance improvement in focus and concentration, stage-fright, management/remission in diseases such as cancer, GI disorders, headaches, etc. Hypnotherapy is another variation used as a therapy approach where the patient routinely experiences the therapeutic process while under hypnosis.
